The halfway point in public consultations of the Draft Flood Risk Management Plans

On 22 March we have reached the halfway point in public consultations of the Draft Flood Risk Management Plans dedicated to river basins and water regions. Only 3 more months left, i.e. until 22 June 2015, to submit comments on the plans via website www.powodz.gov.pl and in the headquarters of the National Water Management Authority (KZGW) as well as offices of all Regional Water Management Authorities.
During the past 3 months we held 11 consultation meetings and three conferences attended by nearly 600 people interested in improving flood safety in Poland. During the upcoming 3 months the plans involve scheduling 10 more consultation meetings and 6 conferences.
Draft plans are available on the website www.powodz.gov.pl and in paper in the headquarters of the National Water Management Authority as well as offices of the Regional Water Management Authorities (full address list has been published on the website BIP KZGW http://bip.kzgw.gov.pl/?aid=46www.powodz.gov.pl/pl/kontakt.
In addition to the information distributed through the website and during the conferences and consultation meetings, we have also sent a brochure dedicated to the flood risk management plans to the governmental and local government institutions, all public libraries in the country. The brochure presents concise and user-friendly information about all plans focusing on the river basins and water regions. It also includes a dictionary of crucial terms and a form you can use to put your comments.
During the ongoing public consultations it is possible to familiarize with the comments that have already been filed and the how they were reviewed. Such information is available on the website www.powodz.gov.pl. The website was visited by more than 21k users. Until mid-March the number of forms filled with comments reached 260, whereby, 170 were filled and submitted electronically, and ca. 90 in paper. The National Water Management Authority and the Regional Water Management Authorities have so far received 30 letters connected with the public consultations.
During the consultations, we also continue publishing information and PR materials in press, Internet as wells as Facebook addressed at the citizens encouraging them to learn more about flood risk and as they are redirected, visit the website www.powodz.gov.pl
