Global Water Day by the Vistula River
25 March 2015 r.
Hundreds of Warsaw’s citizens visited the family picnic organised to celebrate the Global Water Day. Organised by Warsaw WaterWorks, the event was partnered by the National Water Management Authority.
On Saturday, 21 March 2015, the Płyta Desantu (The Landing Memorial) in Warsaw hosted the fourth family picnic dedicated to the Water Day. Among many attractions, the heated tent offered all visitors a chance to engage in various games and plays. On the other hand, the very popular and highly regarded stand of the NWMA attracted many children who queued in order to have their faces painted, while other, older enthusiasts tried their hand at a “water” crossword. Whole families engaged in constructing 3D river full of colourful fish and sea monsters. Children appreciated colouring books. Many Warsaw citizens decided to give their best wishes to the water and it is worth to quote at least some of them: “Dear Water, I wish you to be clean and very happy” wrote Bartek (8), Szymek (7) hoped for the water to have a clean year, Kacperek’s (9) wished for the water to be healthy and loved, Zosia (4) wished little seals, fish and dolphins, Filip (7) many friends and Elżbieta (56) hoped that the water spring would never dry out and people would always cherish it more than gold.
More than 300 people decided to express their wishes and should only some of them come true, we will surely enjoy excellent water both in terms of quantity and quality. This is what we wish to everyone!
At this point, we would like to thank all of you who came to the picnic, for being so active and the great mood you helped us to build.
See you next year!
