At the same time, the maps were delivered by the President of the National Water Management Authority to administrative authorities specified in art. 88f of the Act of 18 July 2001 – Water Law (Journal of Laws of 2017, item 1121):
- directors of regional water management authorities;
- Surveyor General of Poland (GUGIK);
- Chief Inspector of Environmental Protection (GIOS); director of the Government Centre for Security (RCB);
The directors of regional water management authorities, in accordance with art. 88f, paragraph 4 of the Water Law Act, deliver flood hazard and flood risk maps to:
- competent directors of inland waterway transport offices;
- competent governors;
- competent province marshals;
- competent starostes;
- competent commune heads (mayors, presidents);
- competent chief officers of provincial and regional fire departments.
The maps review has been prepared based on analyses carried out as part of the development of flood risk management plans. The maps present areas where the risk of floods is medium and translates to one flood per 100 years (H 1%) - a methodical assumption that outlet sections of rivers do not take into account the impact of waves has been adopted. Moreover, in the case of probability scenarios of 1% and 0.2%, the maps take into account the implementation of flood protection investments that were carried out to 2014.
The description of the methodology and scope of the update includes “Report on the implementation of flood hazard and flood risk maps; Annex 1: Verification of flood hazard and flood risk maps for sea waters, based on the detailed methodology on the basis of variant 0 developed as part of flood risk management plans”.
Below, there is a visualisation presenting the scope of the update of flood hazard and flood risk maps for sea waters.
