Regional RWMA in Wrocław

21 May 2015 r.

On Tuesday, 12 May 2015, Wrocław hosted a regional conference dedicated to the development and drafting of planning documents devoted to flood risk management. Attended by more than 120 stakeholders representing public administration and NGOs, Wrocław’s conference focused on the Flood Risk Management Plan (FRMP) for the Central Oder.

The official welcome and the opening of the conference was performed by Edward Nawirski – Director of the Regional Water Management Authority in Wrocław who announced the lecture given by Witold Sumisławski – President of the National Water Management Authority devoted to the strategic planning with regard to water management. In addition to the aforementioned presentation, the participants of the meeting had an opportunity to see four more presentations listing out goals, scope and results of the works conducted under draft FRMP, risk allocation analysis and diagnosis of key problems backed up by the proposal of planning variants for the Flood Risk Management Plan for the water region of Central Oder. The last presentation concerned the instruments proposed to support flood risk.

Each lecture was followed by a dynamic and engaged debate, and as a result several comments and motions were raised with regard to the draft FRMP. They will be reviewed shortly.

The series of meetings will continue until 22 June, with two more conferences scheduled to take place in Kraków on May, 26 and Gliwice on June, 16. Until that time, you are welcomed to submit your comments via www.powodz.gov.pl or in the headquarters of the National Water Management Authority (NWMA) and all regional offices of the Water Management Authority.
