The public consultation within the strategic environmental assessment process for the Flood Risk Management Plans (FRMPs) finished on 31 July 2015 at 12:00 a.m. They were held according to the article 39 and the article 54 of the Act of 3 October 2008 on Providing Information on the Environment and Environmental Protection, Public Participation in Environmental Protection and on Environmental Impact Assessment (Journal of Laws 2008 No. 199, item 1227 with later amendments). The consultation started on 10 July 2015 with publishing the documents on the Internet website www.powodz.gov.pl in the Plans tab and with making the documentation available in paper version in the office of National Water Management Board and the offices of Regional Water Management Boards. The comments could have been raised for 21 days by: filling in the electronic form on the website www.powodz.gov.pl, sending an e-mail to wydzial.op@kzgw.gov.pl, filling in the paper form which was available in the office of National Water Management Board and the offices Regional Water Management Boards or by sending a letter to the National Water Management Board’s address by post. According to article 41 of above law, the comments raised after the expiry of the consultation will be excluded from examination.

We would like to thank for your comments in the public consultation of Flood Risk Management Plans and strategic environmental assessment reports. We also appreciate your support in preparation of the final version of the Plans which are strategic type documents concerning flood protection safety of our country.

At the same time we would like to thank all the participants of the consultation meetings preceding official consultation in the strategic environmental assessment process of the FRMPs projects and the participants of the conferences in Wrocław, Kraków, Warsaw and Szczecin.

Currently the Reports from the consultation of the strategic environmental assessment process for the FRMPs are being prepared, for every area separately. These reports will contain answers to the comments and motions raised during the consultations. The reports from the public consultation of the strategic environmental assessment of the FRMPs will became available on September on the website www.powodz.gov.pl in Consultation – Raised comments tab. We strongly encourage to study them.

After the final version of the FRMPs is ready, the next step will be to make these documents a subject of the procedure of departmental and interdepartmental reconciliation, and then providing them to the acceptance to the Council of Ministers in the form of regulation. The term for acceptance and announcement of FRMPs to the public, as required by Polish Water Law and Floods Directive, is 22 December 2015.
